Yayyy Yayyy It's Sugar Bowl day...and that's the full extent of my poetry skills!
The sketch for this challenge has been provided by the very lovely Erika and the option, if you choose to follow it, is distressed/vintage. Thankfully the other Sweeties have done a much better job at this than I did, the most distressed thing in my craft room was me! It was one of those cards where everything went wrong and it will now be filed in my special storage system under 'B' for bin.
The image - which is the only thing I like about the card - is called Butterflies and Pigtails and you can buy here HERE. She's been coloured with DI's and Nick Bantock inks. The papers are First Edition, some butterflies from a MS punch and a few pearls.
I coloured her over a few nights and when I took a proper look in the daylight I wasn't much impressed, much darker than I was aiming for. I did distress all the paper edges with Brushed Corduroy except around the image where I used Antique Linen and that I think was my big mistake. Around the image is now very creamy coloured and it looks out of place next to the white of the papers. Add to that a fuzzy image - though I think it might look better in soft focus!
I did make another card using the same papers but a different image and sketch and I will dig it out and pop it on here later in the week just so you can see the difference.
So now to the best bit...the prize for one lucky winner is a 'Steampunk' themed gift bag containing stamps, embossing folders and charms.
For all the details on how to enter please pop on over to the Sugar Bowl blog where you will also find inspiration from all the Sweeties.
Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave.
Love Elaine xx

Stunning card sweetie, fab colours so detailed, I LOVE IT, my fave papers too, hugs sweetie love Pops x x x
ReplyDeleteI know you have your standards Elaine, however, I do think she'll be somewaht Distressed at finding herself in the bin! I actually (HONESTLY) think that the white & cream with pink & brown is fine - you're just not used to it. However - I can really really sympathize with how you feel for I too have a filing area called "B" where items land that others wouldn't dream of filing there.
ReplyDeletePaula (PEP)
What are YOU like this is stunning. Nothing wrong with it at all. Coloured to perfection as always.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the other too.
A tad excited........Ali x
Hi Elaine
ReplyDeleteyou are much too critical of yourself, as this is a lovely card, that image is soooooooo sweet.
Thank you for the info on the Ultimate platform for the Big Shot Pro (so that I can use my Grand Nestabilites with the machine). FANTASTIC service from the Craft Bug, ordered it yesterday & the courier is now trying to find my address, so that he can deliver it to me (hows that for first class service). Only wish hubby had ordered my machine from The Craft Bug as they know what they are talking about (unlike the company he ordered it from).
hugs
Sandra (craftynan)

And now, after seeing your gogeous card, I want her NOW!! hehe! Am excited to be coming back! See you soon, girlfriend! Hugs. Pat Frank
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean about the cream but I still like it, it just makes the image pop out more. Maybe you could lightly glimmermist the background papers to tone them down a bit if you could pop off the image but I like it the way it is. Cankles and all.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, adorable card Elaine, pretty colours too. What do you mean its going in the bin, don't you dare, just cos you don't like it there's plenty of us who do.

Ohhh, I love your coloring and I think you rocked the sketch, your card is beautiful! Love your color combo, pearls and butterflies!
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine
ReplyDeleteAwwww don't bin her! The image is fab and you've coloured her perfectly... although I do tend to agree a little about with you (only being honest) about the Antique Linen arguing with the white as I made the same mistake myself a while ago - I think it's cos my inkpad was too wet, as I've seen it used to much better effect than I did. But I'm sure she doesn't need to be in the bin!!
Hugs
