Garry Quennell......You Made Me Cry!

Wherever you are Garry, today you made me cry.
I know Garry through work, he worked for Daikin Air Conditioning and whenever we need spare parts then it's Garry that I call first. Or email, though not all the emails that pass between us are work related! There are quite a number of joke/rude emails that we send to each other. I would call him my 'ickle star and he calls me Babe - which always makes me laugh and yes he does know how old I am. He also knows and gets along well with my hubby.

Today we had an email from Daikin to say that Garry had suddenly passed away. We are both rocked by this terrible news, and feel we have lost a good friend though we've never met him.
I can't even send a sympathy card to his family, as obviously Daikin don't give out personal information on it's employees.

Wherever you are Garry, I'm in no doubt that you'll be making everyone laugh and generally causing trouble, and we will both miss you. I just hope that 'Kermit' the bright green beast of a motorbike had no involvement in this! Our deepest sympathies go out to your family.

Love Elaine (Babe) xxx
PS My blue froggy has gone walk about! I've checked some other blogs and theirs has gone too, so I assume he will return at some point?

  3. Aww hun that's such sad news. Blogging just proves you don't have to meet in person to form friendships, and I'm so sorry you've lost your 'ickle star, he'll be shining down on you now instead of sending naughty emails lol.
You could always send a card for his family to Daikin, or ask them for the name of the undertakers and send one to them who will forward it on Garry's family
    big hugs Mandy xx

  7. This is the point of the tattoo we talked about, cause you just never know what is gonna happen. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that Garry is looking down on you and keeping you safe from above. How lucky he was to have you as a friend if only for awhile.

  11. Oh I'm so sorry - Mandy's right about the undertaker - we had cards via them for Mum & I'm sure Daikin would forward anything you sent there. We never know what is going to come our way or the way of those we know/have contact with.
    Take care yourself too.
    Much love from me

  12. Hiya Elaine,

So sorry to hear that you have lost a good friend.
He will be creating havoc wherever he is ( as you say)!

It's the good memories that linger!

The company can not give out the address BUT you can send a card addressed to Garry or Garry's family and they will post it on for you! They are not breaking any rules then.
Call and ask, they will be more than happy to help!

    Take care hunny
    Big Hugs

  13. HI Elaine.... so sorry to hear your sad news.... it's amazing how you can form really strong friendships with people you've never actually met.. you only have to look at blogland for examples! If you don't sent a card via the undertaker, maybe you could send one to be forwarded via the company he worked for?
    Big cyberland (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) for you...

  14. Oh Elaine, I am so sorry. I'm sure he's up to mischief with the angels and watching over you.

I'm sure his company will send on a card for you.

Friendships however short always leave happy memories. I know that thinking of Garry will always bring a smile.

Keep smiling. Sending masses of hugs.

  17. I used to work with Garry a few years ago, and he certainly was a character! It wasn't the bike, but he probably would of been happier if it was that, knowing Garry. He will always be missed.

  18. In reply to the above comment...thank you so much for leaving the comment, it meant a lot to me. Obviously Daikin wouldn't disclose what had happened, to Daikin I was just a customer.
But over the years both myself and my hubby had become really friendly with Garry, and 99% of the emails between me and Garry were nothing to do with work at all :)
I miss our (almost daily) emails and I miss Garry.
It's funny how someone I've never met could touch me so deeply.
I have no other way of getting this message through to you..I sincerely hope that one day you will read it.

    Big thanks to you
    Elaine xxx
