Christmas Wishes ♥

At long last...
I'm all finished with the buying, wrapping and writing, all that's left to do now is deliver the last few gifts, which I'll get done as soon as I've finished at work tomorrow.

I've made very few Christmas cards this year - 3 to be precise - just because of a lack of time, maybe I should really make a start on them before November huh?
But I made a stack of quick and easy gift tags.

I simply LOVE brown paper (and Kraft) and for me, there's nothing nicer than 'brown paper packages tied up with string', made a little more festive with the addition of some fat, stripey red and white ribbon, and a candy cane.

I made some more boxes too, to put small gifts in, though my red/white/kraft colour scheme went out of the window for these.

Nice and quick to make too...a simply box that's held closed by the belly band.

All that's left to say is A Very Merry Christmas to everyone.
I hope all your wishes come true.

Maja and Joy Craft - Winner!

I'm sorry I couldn't get on here last evening to pick a winner...I was out with the girlies :)
It was a lovely evening and a very welcome break after a long week at work with lots of extra hours spent trying to catch up after my week off.

So without any further waffle and delay, Mr Random picked a number...

Congratulations Caz
If you can please EMAIL me with your full postal address and I will get your parcel posted.

Maja and Magnolia Winner ♥

It's been a busy old week to say the least.
We've worked longer hours on our week off work than we do when in work...but it's been a fabulous (if tiring) break.
We have achieved most of what we'd planned with the exception of the boiler. The engineer phoned to say it couldn't be done this week but they would book it in for the week before Christmas...not on your bloody Nellie!
I have enough to do without the disruption of the boiler being replaced so we've delayed it until after Christmas now.

On Wednesday we picked up our passports and headed over the border into Yorkshire to see the lovely Christine and the equally lovely Barry. We had such a fabulous time but the day just vanished! We had lunch  and lots of laughs in a very nice pub and I think we just chatted the day away.
The drive there was longer than usual due to accidents on the motorway, but the drive home was even worse! Next time I shall just pack a suitcase and stay the week ha!

On Thursday we went to Bury to do some Christmas shopping and met my Mum and Dad for lunch.
We had another lovely day out and got an awful lot of the Christmas shopping done.
I am going to spend the weekend wrapping all the gifts and writing cards in the hope that by the time I go back to work on Monday I will have (almost) conquered  Christmas :)

Unfortunately, most nights it's been anything from 10pm to 11pm before we've been sitting down and so I've not ventured into blogland until tonight...for that I apologise....but I am here with the candy winner.

Mr Random picked the number...

Congratulations Christine...no not the Christine I went to visit but t'other Christine (Nana seaside)
If you can please EMAIL me with your full postal address and I can get your parcel posted on Monday.

Thank you to everyone that entered.
Ready for another little one?
Same rules as always.

Maja Design, Magnolia and Waffle ♥

Yaaaayyyyyyy FREEDOM!!!
I've now officially finished work for a weeks holiday, along with my hubby and much to the annoyance of a certain boy who still has to go to college ha!
I am so looking forward to not having to get up while it's still dark, but we do have rather a lot of stuff planned for the week. There won't be any lounging in bed days, as we still have to get the lazy boy out of his pit in the morning...he sets his alarm which is very effective at waking me and Phil but then Hal just sleeps straight through it!

Plan of action for the week.
Monday morning blood tests for me and opticians for Phil.
The new boiler is being fitted one day, but not sure when, though it will be a day when I'm out... being home with no heating on is not my idea of a fun day!
Another day we will be going over to Bolton to see my Mum and Dad and have lunch out with them.
Wednesday we are travelling over the border into Yorkshire to meet up with the lovely Christine and Barry for a spot of lunch...looking forward to that honey :)
There will also be Christmas shopping trips though a certain someone isn't thrilled by the idea!

I have a few jobs planned to keep Phil occupied...I'm good like that :)
A new toilet to be fitted in Hals bathroom, the TV in my craft room to be connected up rather than just sitting there gathering dust, outside twinkly lights to be reinstated, and Christmas decorations to be put up.
Phil enjoys decorating the tree, I do not and so this is Phil's contribution towards the festivities. But before anyone starts to feel too sorry for him, my jobs are the endless writing of Christmas 'to-do' lists, the majority of the gift buying, all the wrapping and the unenviable task of writing out 120 cards :)

I would much rather spend the week in my craft room playing but I need to pull my finger out and get organised for Christmas.

And with Christmas in mind (better late than never)
A little candy...

Maja Design It's Christmas Time 6x6 pad. These papers are absolutely gorgeous!
I used them for This card.

And a Magnolia stamp..Santa Lucia. I think this is a special release stamp (I think??)

If you are a regular, then you know my very simple rules by now.
Candy is open worldwide, though I am not liable for customs duty that some countries impose, and I always mark it as a gift.
Candy is open to my existing followers only...I appreciate my followers and those that take the time to leave a comment, especially when I'm so far behind in returning the gesture!

Sugar Bowl Challenge ~ 97.

....and I'm back again :)

Today sees a new challenge over on the Sugar Bowl. We have another fab sketch, this time from Sweetie Wendy and with the optional theme of 'A Winters Tale'.
Of course you can interpret the theme however you wish but with Christmas looming on the horizon (and having made just two cards so far!) then I was definitely making the most of this challenge and going with a festive card ha!

This stamp was a limited edition one, only available when you purchased the set of stamps at the release date. She is from the Simply Sassy range and I totally adore her but she's never been inked before...I was so scared of colouring all that hair! But I was feeling brave that day and I am so glad I did...she is so beautiful.
As always, she's coloured with DI re-inkers and markers.
The skin shades: Tattered Rose and Tea Dye.
The hair: Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.
Lips and Berries: Barn Door and Aged Mahogany.
Holly Leaves: Shabby Shutters and Forest Moss.

The papers..oh but I LOVE this set of papers!! Maya Design Vintage Winter.
A simple sentiment and a few pearls complete the card - for me anyways lol.
Edited: They are not Vintage Winter papers at all!! My apologies..the papers are from the "It's Chrismast Time" pad!

As always, there is a prize chosen at random for one lucky winner, their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps, rising to any 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries.
But you know you've got to be in it to win it!
You can find lots of inspiration on the Sugar Bowl blog with all the fabulous cards from the other sweeties.

Thanks for looking.

Birthdays Galore!!

Lots of friends and family celebrate their birthdays this week, but I have concentrated on the two people that also have blogs...since you wouldn't know the others ha!

Yesterday was a very special birthday for my lovely friend and cyber Mummy Shirley.

Anyone that knows Shirley knows what a lovely, sweet and kind lady she is, as well as a very talented crafter, and she deserves the most special of special birthdays.

Today is the birthday of my Sweetie sister Maria.
I hope you also have the bestest of birthdays...I'm sure there will be cake as there are two little girls that would love some too, and lots of lovely gifts to open.

I sent Maria a puppy!
OK, a puppy on her card since a puppy wouldn't travel well all the way to Norway.

The stamp is of course a Magnolia Tilda which came free with the latest magazine.
As always, she's coloured with DI re-inkers and markers.
The gorgeous papers are Pion Design, an older set but I still love these so much, Studio Of Memories.
The sentiment, banner die and butterfly die are all from PTI.

Not much going on with embellies...I think they're getting less and less!
Didn't think it could be possible really, but hey ho, I likes 'em CAS :)

Happy Birthdays to my two lovely friends.
Big hugs

Tag.....

Oh dear..my brain is fuddled! I thought I had posted this but it was still sitting in drafts.

Without any more waffle..I counted the comments and got Hal to pick a number and...

 Sinikka

If you can please EMAIL me with your full postal address and I can get your parcel in the mail.

I have a few little candy's sitting in my craft room cupboard, and I'd better move my butt and get them on here quickly or they won't reach their destinations in time for Christmas!
I just need to take photo's....but maybe I'll just 'lift' some stock photo's off t'internet and save myself the time and misery!
Back soon.

Tag..You're It!!

It seems that there has been a breakdown on the Christmas card production line...just 3 made so far and it will soon be December...oh deary me :(
The only thing I'm producing in abundance is snot...my nose is running like a tap! Eeeeeeuuuwwww way too much information Elaine!

It's certainly getting darker much earlier, which means trying to take a decent photograph is harder than usual, my photography skills are non-existent at the best of times.
And so all the following photographs are pretty dire..you'll just have to use your imagination about how they really look :)
(You can click on the photos to enlarge them)

And as you can see, I've been making a few tags. Very quick and easy tags, which is perfect when you need to make a lot of them. These are so easy to put together that (once all the die cutting is done) you can get the children involved too.

One of my crafty buddies had seen the tags, along with some birthday ones, and asked if I could send her some of the die cut tag shapes, which made me think that maybe other crafters would like the tag shapes?

I've put together a little starter bundle.
Everything as shown above, in more detail below.

There are 5 different shapes of tags, and I have included 3 of each tag (15 tags in total)
Plus the bottom shape is a gift card holder x 3.

Waxed cord in red and brown, Divine twine in red/white and brown/white, and button twice.
Some lace and some gingham ribbon.

Various sizes of felt snowflakes in kraft and vintage white.
Various sizes of felt flowers in kraft and poppy.
And the blurry fuzzy die cut poinstettias..I think there are 8 of each size.

Wooden buttons, resin flowers, pearl centres, an assortment of gold and silver jingle bells, and a pearl/diamante thingymybob.

If you fancy the tag package just leave a comment.

Sugar Bowl Challenge ~ 96

Eeeee but I'm like a bus! You wait around for a bus for ages then two come trundling along at the same time!
No posts in 10 days then two posts (almost) together :)

It's Sugar Bowl day..always a good reason for me to smile, and believe me, smiling is not coming easy to me this week. I'm full of cold, thanks to my darling husband and his generosity!
For this challenge we have a fab sketch from Sweetie Maria, and an optional theme of 'Sparkle and Shine'.

I chose to make a Christmas card with the gorgeous stamp Wish Upon A Star.
As always, she's coloured with DI re-inkers and markers.
The papers are Maja Design Vintage Winter from Creashop Duymelot, the sentiment is from Whimsy and there's not much else going on here but a MFT snowflake, a little rose and a doily.
It's a super sparkly card full of glamour dust, but you'll just have to take my word for it since the photo doesn't catch the sparkle.

As always, there is a prize chosen at random for one lucky winner...their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps, rising to 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries.
Please bob on over to the Sugar Bowl and check out the gorgeous cards from my Sweetie Sisters.

It's A Girl - And Other Stuff.

Yep, it's a girl, though thankfully not mine! I do adore snuggly buggly babies but I'm far too old to live through any more sleepless nights.
One of the lads (that works in the same building as I do, but he works for a different company) is now the proud Daddy to a gorgeous baby girl.

It's a terrible photo! The colours are all way off, but I sent the card two weeks ago and I've only just checked the photos and this was the best of a bad bunch.

Image is of course a Tilda, coloured with DI re-inkers and markers, and the papers are Prima Tea Thyme.

Other news...feel free to skip this waffle...Phil has been working away on and off for the past few weeks.
Last week he was up in Edinburgh again and he didn't get back home until 6pm on Saturday night. He did come bearing gifts...in the form of dirty washing and a cold! If I start with a cold this week then he's going to be in BIG trouble! He was home for exactly 36 hours then 6am Monday morning he set off to spend this week working in Wales. I've got my fingers crossed that this will be his last trip away this year.

Hal is going to Manchester Crown Court next Saturday.
It's something he's doing with College and he will be acting as a Barrister in front of a real judge. He has been given notes to read about a fictional Court case and on Saturday when he arrives at the Court he will be told whether he is prosecuting or defending the accused and the challenge is to win the court case.
So last weeks job was to take Hal shopping for a suit since this is how they have to dress for Court.

(Yes I have taken the tags off the jacket now!)
He just needs a trip to the barbers yet.
We are skint.com again!

Christmas is fast approaching. I know I must be getting old as I'm very sure it was only a couple of months ago that I was running around like a headless chicken buying gifts for Christmas 2011. Where has this year gone to? I'm not any more organised this year than I was last year. I have made 2 Christmas cards (whoopdidoo!) so far, but not bought any gifts yet. We have a lot of family birthdays in November and December and I like to get all those gifts bought first before tackling Christmas.
Every year I plan on making a whole pile of amazing stuff for the festivities and every year I fail miserably.
Martha Stewart can stop shaking in her boots.

And what does everyone want in their stocking at Christmas? Why candy of course!
Though calorie free candy is my preferred type..I am a little chubbylicious!
So I have been thinking what to offer as candy. I like to give stuff that I love and use which is fine if you share the same taste as me, but not so good if you don't!
I have thunk and thunk and thunk some more and come up with a few ideas. So I will start posting them soon :)

Thanks for looking.

Sugar Bowl Challenge ~ 95.

I'm back with a card for the new Sugar Bowl challenge, and this time we have a fabby sketch from the lovely  and multi-talented Sweetie Erika.

I have used another of my favourite Leanne Ellis stamps, Cup Of tea.
As always, she's coloured with DI re-inkers and markers.
The papers are MME Stella and Rose - Hattie.
The flutterby's are MFT dies, the flowers are made from PTI dies, felt and buttons, and the sentiment is from WMS.

And this time the optional theme is a colour inspired one.

As always, there is a prize chosen at random for one lucky winner, their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps, rising to 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries.
Please pop on over to the Sugar Bowl to see the beautiful cards off my Sweetie sisters.

And Now For Something Completely Different...

It's 21 years ago today that my sister-in-law Claire gave birth to her third child, my lovely niece Rebekah.
Of course I wanted to make her a card, but my preferred choice of cards are cute and girly and as everyone has different tastes these are not always suitable so I went with something along the clean and simple lines.

As someone said to me 'these 20 minute cards are popular at the moment' and yes, it probably did take 20 minutes to make...after I'd sat there for an hour and a half staring into space and trying to find some inspiration!

Clean and simple is hard!

And for someone that struggles to add embellishments to their cards, it seems that on a CAS style of card that  I just don't know when to walk away and leave well alone!

PTI Products Used.
The kraft cardstock is embossed with the Tin Type impression plate.
Large scallop border die, butterfly die, numbers dies.
Sentiment, papers (for the 21) and the matching felt (thank you Amanda )

Thank you also to Maria for the beautiful circular die cut frame.

I certainly have a lot of different embellishments in my craft stash and I rarely use them so maybe if I make more CAS style cards then I will use them a lot more though of course that defeats the object...just like me to be backwards lol!
So any useful hints, tips and constructive comments would be welcome.

Happy 21st Birthday Rebekah!!!

Sugar Bowl Challenge ~ 94

At long last I'm back with a card - I know, don't all faint at once!
And what better card to show than one for the new Sugar Bowl challenge :)

The sketch for this challenge has been provided by the lovely Sweetie Jenny, with an optional theme of "wet, wet, wet". Hmmm so which image to use for this one? Well I had a good rummage through my rubber box and decided on one that not only had snow but a brolly too!

WARNING:
Not for the faint hearted...the following card may offend the CAS style of crafters...more embellies than you can shake a stick at! In my defence, I would've happily stepped away from the card 3 embellies earlier but I was trying to follow the sketch to the best of my ability.

Ta-da!! My first (and at the rate I'm going, only) Christmas card.
I love this stamp! How cute are these two Snow Buddies?
As always, the image is coloured with a mix of DI re-inkers and markers.
The umbrella has been paper pieced...though my poor photography doesn't show the dimension on the brolly. The papers are some really old ones from Dream Street, and then there's a whole snow storm of glamour dusted die cut snowflakes and a flower tucked in there too.

As always, there is a prize chosen at random for one lucky winner, their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps, rising to 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries.
Please pop on over to the Sugar Bowl to see the fab cards off my Sweetie sisters.

MAJA CANDY ♥♥♥

Well looky here, looky here, now what do I see?
Two fabulous new paper pads from Maja Design..just waiting for me :)

It's Christmas Time..available to pre-order HERE from my lovely friends in The Netherlands, Astrid and Kees at Creashop Duymelot. These are due in around October 18th.

And Walking In The Forest, available to buy HERE and this pad is due in stock tomorrow or Tuesday.

If you've had Maja Design papers before then I know you will NEED these, if you've not had them before then I can tell you they are the best quality papers around, and the designs are delicious...the photo really doesn't do them justice, just wait until you have those pads in your hands...the hardest part is to - sharp intake of breath - cut them!

Of course I have got my order in first, before I tell you lot about them! Wouldn't do for them to sell out before I've treated myself to the odd pad or six :)

So....would you like to win a pad of Maja Design papers?
Astrid and Kees have very kindly given one of each of the pads as a candy, so there will be two winners. (One pad per winner)
Once the candy has ended I will send both winners address's to Astrid and Kees and they will post out the pads. Candy is open worldwide. Just click on the blue frog below to enter. It would be greatly appreciated if you could post one of the photos on your sidebar.

A BIG thank you to Astrid & Kees ♥♥♥

Sugar Bowl Challenge...Ooops!

I am so sorry that I have no card to show today for the new Sugar Bowl challenge...I'm struggling through a different kind of challenge at the moment and one I am not enjoying at all ...and so my playtime has been zero, which in turn makes me a very grumpy bunny.

Many thanks to all my family and friends for their good wishes and excessive gifts for my baby's 18th birthday. He was truly spoiled and had a lovely day. It could only have been better if he didn't have to spend 8 hours of the day in college, but that's life.

I didn't have any time to make Hal a special card so it had to be a shop bought one (bad mother) and Phil was away and didn't get back until 7pm the night before his birthday, which meant I ended up spending far more time than usual in work plus I was on "out of hours" phone answering duties 24/7 which in turn meant I didn't even buy him a gift (doubly bad mother) so he had money for his birthday.
I did fully intend to buy him the ticket for next years Download festival. They announced the head liners last week and he really, really wanted to go if only to watch Iron Maiden. So 9am on Thursday I was online and poised to buy him the 5 day pass until I checked the festival date (this year it fell during college break time) but for 2013 it is a few weeks later. I thought I'd better double check with college and unfortunately the festival falls slap bang in the middle of his A level exams, so he can't go. Which also buggered up my plans for what to buy him!

Since he was having money then the least I could do was make a box to put it in.

Being a boy means he doesn't care much for flowers, glitter or anything too fussy, which was a good job since I only had an hour to put it all together from scratch. I made the box from a sheet of Kraft cardstock. The band around it is made entirely from PTI products.
(The kraft star is mounted exactly in the middle of the blue one but as usual my extraordinary photography skills make it look well off center)

And I just carried on the theme inside...again all PTI stuff.

Very clean and simple but it was perfect for Hal and looked a little better than just shoving the money in with his card, though nowhere near as impressive as the innovative way his other (Scottish) Mummy presented him with a large donation of money!!

My Favourite Things ♥♥

Oh dear! I have been such a terrible blogger again. I just don't know where the days disappear to, and I can't imagine how some folks can post a card every day...do they sleep? I am still trying to catch up with emails and comments!

This candy should have been on here weeks ago, but I just didn't get around to it.
As is usual, it's made up of some of my favourite things, which I hope you will like too.

These papers are from Papirgleder and can be bought from Astrid and Kees at Crea Duymelot in The Netherlands.
As shown above, there are 3 sheets. Each 12x12 sheet has 4 designs in 6x6 size, and they are really, really pretty papers.

Sugar Bowl Challenge ~ 92

Good Morning :)
I'm back with my card for the Sugar Bowl challenge.

(Our Sugar Mama Gayle is having some technical difficulties...loss of broadband, so the challenge won't be posted until later today when she has been re-connected again)

We have a fabby sketch to follow from Sweetie Erika - thank you Erika, I loved this sketch :)
And this time the optional theme is a colour one "Worn Turquoise".
No Erika, I did not like the theme! DI's aren't the best when it comes to turquoise! But I like to rise to the challenge and at least give it a  try.

I was lucky enough to get Goosey Gander as a rubber stamp in my DT pack almost 2 years ago, and Karen has now made her available as an instant sugar-fix digital image HERE.

As per usual, she's coloured with DI re-inkers and markers.
Skin: Tattered Rose and Tea Dye.
Hair & Shoes: Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.
Turquoise Shades (OK, more blue than turquoise!) Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers.
Beige: Antique Linen..and more Antique Linen!

The papers are MME Stella and Rose - Hattie, the sentiment is from a set by Whimsy and the flutterby's are MFT dies.

As always, there is a prize chosen at random for one lucky winner, their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps, rising to 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries.
Please bob on over to the Sugar Bowl to see the fab cards off my Sweetie sisters..but it might be later in the afternoon before Gayle has broadband again and can post the challenge.

Sugar Bowl Challenge ~ 91

Good Morning :)

I'm back today with a card for the new Sugar Bowl challenge. As always, we have a fab sketch to follow, this time from Sweetie Fi, with an optional theme of 'Shabby Chic'.

I've used another 'Annie' stamp...just cos I luvs her a lot :)
She is an older image and sometimes the older ones get neglected as we are all so desperate to ink up our new rubber. So when I was cleaning out the boxes of stamps in my craft room, I also spent a little time inking up some of my older images...so here is Catch A Falling Star from the Leanne Ellis range.

As usual, she is coloured with a mix of DI re-inkers and markers.
Skin: Tattered Rose and Tea Dye.
Hair: Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.
Pinks: Spun Sugar,Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany.
Blues: Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Faded Jeans.
Star: Sparkling Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Rusty Hinge.

The delicious papers are from The Scrapcake - The Bright Side of Life, sadly these are now discontinued (sniffle sniffle ) I thought the papers had a 'shabby chic' feel to them.
Not much else to say about this card...it's a bit bare on the old embellishment front..just a few pearls, some glamour dust on the star and the sentiment is from Elzybells (no longer trading) cut out with MFT Fish Tail banner dies.

As always, there is a prize chosen at random for one lucky winner, their choice of any 4 Sugar Nellie stamps, rising to 6 stamps if we reach 100+ entries.
Please check out all the other gorgeous cards over on the Sugar Bowl from my Sweetie sisters.

Brown Paper Packages ~ Winner :)

I've been off work on holiday this week but I've been working like a demon at home. I have blitzed through my craft room and everything has been thoroughly cleaned, and every box and drawer has been emptied and sorted through.
The good news is that I have a squeaky clean, organised and de-cluttered room.
The bad news is now I have a cupboard full of crap craft stuff which I still need to sort through.

OK, what I'm really here for...
Mr Random has done his job and picked a number:

Congratulations Alyce! If you could please EMAIL ME with your full postal address then I can pop your goodies in the mail on Monday.

A big "Thank you" to everyone that entered.
I had some delicious papers arrive this week and I bought extras to use as candy...so I will be back soon with another candy :)

Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String...

Better late than never I guess!
I feel like I should be in the Dr Doolittle film...as the Pushmi-pullyu, as I'm not really sure which way I'm going, or whether I'm on my ass or my elbow! But it will pass, always does.
I am doing my best to catch up in blogland but it's taking a while, and there's 103 emails in my inbox, waiting for a reply. My apologies...but I'll get them answered as soon as I possibly can.

So...brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things...

I did take a photograph last night but it was going dark and the photo is pretty crappy - no surprises there eh? So I searched through the internet for some product photos instead.

The ScrapCake...The Bright Side of Life 6 x 6 paper pad.
These papers are gorgeous and I used them on the card HERE.

Whimsy 'Hopeful' rubber stamp.

Tilda with Hawaii flower.

Marianne Craftables Dies.

And MFT dies.

Candy is open worldwide, though I am not liable for customs duties some countries impose.
The usual rule applies...just one rule...candy is open to my followers only...it's a little thank you.
