Good morning everyone. It's Thursday, so time for another fabulous Sugar Bowl Challenge. The sketch for this challenge has been provided by Sweetie Judy and the option is buttons.
Now I thought this was a lovely sketch. Nice and easy, just the way I like them, and surely everyone has a stash of buttons? Except me it seems. I hunted high and low to find a few humble buttons.
Then I had such a hard time trying to make this card, it was definitely one-of-those-days. I scored my card to make the base, using my trusty Scor-pal, and I managed to make a crooked card. In the bin it went and I started again. After the base was made I cut the DP with my guillotine. Is there only me on the planet who can cut paper wonky on a guillotine? In the bin in went. The next DP I cut too small arrrrgh!
Walk away, make a brew and start again. Cut the paper straight and the correct size and stick it down..........skew-whiffy! (For those who don't know, skew-whiffy means cock-eyed, crooked, wonky etc).
It took me 8 hours to produce this card, and that really is no exaggeration. 8 hours, 6 cuppas and one felled tree with all the paper I wasted. Not a good or productive day and not a favourite card, but I do love this image.
The image is a Leanne Ellis called "Catch a falling star" available to buy HERE. The DP is Kaiser Crafts 'Wish Upon' range, the sentiment is from Elzybells, the beautiful doily was a gift from my buddy
Gayle - thanks luv. Four buttons, three pearls and a bit of ribbon. She's coloured as always with DI's.
Another amazing prize is on offer for one lucky person. Either the 4 new Christmas Manga stamps OR the 4 new Christmas Country Cousins stamps plus two sets of Personal Impressions word stamps and a Papermania Black and White embellishment set from the Capsule Collection which includes bling, buttons, glitter and bows. How's that for a wowzer of a prize?
All the details are on the Challenge Blog and don't forget to visit the other Sweeties for some inspiration.
Before I sign off, on my last post I did mention that Gayle is running a competition to find some new Sweeties. Rules of entry are easy peasy, so what are you waiting for? Pop over HERE for all the details and get your entries in.
Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave.
Love Elaine xx

ReplyDeleteLove how you have coloured this image.
Hugs Ali x
Elaine, I couldn't tell you had a hard time with this card... It's really Gorgeous! Lovely color combination and your coloring is stunning! I always have a problem with the guillotine, so I can empathize with you. You're lucky to have finished your card in 8 hours... mine can take nights :P hahaha! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteAha - your guillotine has been chatting to mine. I'll make sure my ruler doesn't go & canoodle with yours. She's glorious - love those colours & that doily is a real treat. Now the final straw is when you've completed the card & it is ready to photograph & there you have a smudge of ink on the back - quick trim it all down off the back & layer it onto another piece of cardstock - providing one hasn't already decorated the inside. Otherwise no alternative but to add another layer on the inside as well.........
ReplyDeleteGlad you survived & your struggle really doesn't show.
Much love

Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteI suffer from "wonky-itis" too - noone ever believes me when I say that I can cut wonky on a guillotine (to be honest, I struggle to understand it myself!) I LOVE how this turned out though - how did you get the texture on the star? Love all the colours - its stunning xxxx
Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteI think everyone from time to time has completely 'off' days like this, but the resulting card is gorgeous. I can see what appeals to you in this image- it is sooo cute and the layout really suits it.
Yet again, your colouring is first rate.
Hope you're having a lovely weekend.
Big hugs,
Trish xx
