I've just been told by the Hubster that tomorrow is the planned day that we change internet providers. At some point during the day we will lose the internet connection with our current supplier, but will be transferred to the new provider later in the day. The last time we changed we had no internet for a week!
So if I'm not around and about you'll know why.
I've no new cards to show, I am working away on stuff which can't be blogged just yet. So instead I thought I'd show an older card. I tend to show only the cards that I'm relatively happy with, but I've got plenty that I don't like and haven't shown. I suppose this card illustrates how we change and develop, how our own tastes alter.
Image is of course a Sugar Nellie Manga, I adore this image! I was quite new to colouring with DI's when I made this card so it's not the best attempt. The DP is MME, and I do like most of the papers in this range, but the gingham one looks blurry and out of focus - and not just in my photo! I have a big box full of these flowers, I bought them because everyone else was using them - I must've been going through a "sheep" phase and following along behind everyone else - but the truth is that I don't really use them much anymore.
I've seen some amazing floral arrangements on other peoples cards and I love them, but I just don't like them on my cards.
It's my boys birthday in a couple of weeks, sweet 16 and never been kissed? Yeah right! So I've planned a followers/commentors candy in honour of the occasion, I'm just waiting for a couple of bits to turn up yet.
Hopefully I'll be popping by your blogs tomorrow, but if I'm MIA at least you'll all know why.
Thanks for looking and any comments you may leave.
Love Elaine xx

ReplyDeleteLove this card Elaine the colours and Dp are gorgeous, but as you say wee do progress with our crafting but your DI's image colouring look fantastic to me chum!! me too I see beautiful arrangements of flowers on cards like Mandy's hers are amazing always, but yours look fabulous on here, I keep saying I'm going to get some from Orchid Crafts as they have a great selection, well hope your internet is not down for to long chum, take care catch you later!! Hugs
ReplyDeleteSarah xx
Oooo Elaine this is just gorgeous it's no wonder you're on the Sugar Nellie team!! Would never say it was done by somebody who was new to di's. I really hope you're not cut off from blogland for too long I also luv your work and the stories you tell and will miss ya loads. Lotsa luv xxxx
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the flowers. Wild Orchid Crafts loved to see me log on but I hardly ever use them. Tend to be a little simpler with my cards now. Great coloring beginner at the time or not.
ReplyDeleteDespite what you say I do think the shading is excellent. I too hope that my colouring is this good when I re-tackle the Distress Inks. I think it's good to see how we develop & grow for then we have something to meausure ourselves by. I recently found one of my very first cards I made & have quietly put it away in a box so that I can remind myself of where I started. A recent trip to Smiths where I originally bought heaps of crafting goodies saw me leave empty handed - we only outgrow ourselves by being sheep & learning to find our patch of grass. Sorry if all that sounds patronising - I have to remind myself of all these things sp thank you for reminding me to remind myself.

love your colors, cute!

Hi Elaine, have to say I've never coloured with distress inks and sad to say don't own any though I do have some coloured pen inks and love their vibrant colours but haven't used them for ages. Hope your son has a fab birthday it's amazing how time flies. Your boss sounds like my hubbies they have limits as to what internet access they are allowed, I suppose it makes bossman feel as if they have pwoer!
ReplyDeleteI occassionally use flowers but like you really have to try hard to make them look how I want, but do admire fellow crafters who make them just blend into their cards but it wouldn't do for us all to be the same. Hope the transfer goes fast and smooth, hugs Julye
So sweet card you made.
ReplyDeleteHugs,Willy
Fingers crossed you can read this soon and that internet behaves....
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card - do you handcut the pink shape around to get it this close to the other shape or do you have a secret to share with the Nesties?? I can relate to the flowers for sure I have them too - and use them now and then - but no good if card is not handdelivered as the Royal mail loooves to ruin them completely when handling mail.
You are being mean to yourself!! I love your coloring!! It's just gorgeous!! Good luck with the internet thingy and yupp your boss is mean but I supposed I wouldn't get to do blogthingy myself so...
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine, Well I think your colouring on this is beautiful! And the flowers look lovely too, although I know what you mean about the flowers - I sometimes use the roses, but then it's more awkward to get in the envelope AND it costs more to send, so I prefer the flat ones. That nestie looks lovely too. Hope the internet provider change goes ok. Susie x
ReplyDeleteLove the stamp too! It's on my wish list. I have loads of those flowers too, and I have to watch who I make cards for 'cause the postage!!!
ReplyDeletehugs
hey hunny! Your card is stunning!! Loving the colouring...i'm squinting and still can't see how you could improve it! Looks amazing to me! I love the little mini roses!! And it allde pends on what kind of lok you want to acheive on your card....mmmmm ....Like you I am loving clean!
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well today!
Hugs Judy xx
Think we all change our stlye at some point, Elaine. I tried the fancy approach for a while too but , if I'm honest, it's too much and definitely not me, lol. Your card is gorgeous and the flowers look fab. Hope your internet is sorted out quick. I move house next week and I think I will be driven mad if it doesn't work, lol x
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine
ReplyDeleteI don't know WHY you wouldn't have shown this card before now, as it's lovely. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your internet connection, although on the positive side I have not switched my computer on for the last couple of days and I have got a lot more crafting done lol.
hugs
Sandra (craftynan)

You know Elaine your colouring is amazing and if this is an older creation, when you thought you were just starting out with DI and it wasn't your best attempt, your mad. OMG your colouring is exceptional.
